The old schoolhouse in Corolla was built in the late 1800s, closed in 1957, then reopened for local children once again in 2012. The Corolla Education Foundation (CEF) maintains the institution, which provides unique educational opportunities for students in the area by utilizing the coastal location.
Operating as a Charter School, the Corolla Schoolhouse is a free public school that receives public funding and is governed and overseen by a board of directors as well as the State Board of Education. With small classes, hands-on learning and multi-age classrooms, any student is welcomed and accommodated.
Students leave the Corolla Schoolhouse with a strong sense of teamwork, leadership and social & environmental responsibility.
