November 8, 2024

While many sportsmen have their own favorite treestand, brush or neck of the woods or waterbed for their favorite hobby, consider a trip to The Northern Outer Banks for your next hunting excursion.

Aside from our plentiful waterfowl, deer, wild turkey or pheasants, we also have many great hunting spots, as hunting is one of the foundations of our area. The wooded areas of The Northern Outer Banks, whether you are a blackpowder or archer style hunter, is an ideal location for your next hunting adventure. Below you will find all of the important dates and information to make your excursion a success.

The Guides are familiar with the topography, roaming habits of animals and can help you and your group have a successful hunt.

Important Season Information:
Depending on your goals as a sportsman, you will also need to follow the dates, rules and regulations set by North Carolina Wildlife Commission, which can be found here. There are many Sporting goods supply stores on the Mainland to stop at on your way to your destination to stock up on supplies before your hunt:

License/Permit Information:

All hunters need a valid North Carolina hunting license unless exempt. Licenses can be obtained online through the NCWRC website or from local retail outlets.

In addition to the basic hunting license, waterfowl hunters need a Federal Migratory Bird Hunting and Conservation Stamp (Duck Stamp) and a North Carolina Waterfowl License. These are required for hunting migratory birds.

Some wildlife areas or specific hunting zones (like certain sections of the national wildlife refuges) may require additional permits or reservations. Please check with the NCWRC or your outfitter or guide for more information.

Safety:

Make sure you take a hunter safety course if required and practice responsible hunting. Wear hunter orange when required, especially during rifle deer season, as visibility is important for safety.

Always follow hunting regulations and respect the land. Make sure you have permission from landowners if hunting on private property.

Be sure to follow all local and state laws regarding littering and clean up after yourself. This helps preserve the area for future hunters and wildlife.

We look forward to welcoming you to The Northern Outer Banks and wish you success on your outdoor adventure.
