Packing List for your Corolla Vacation

August 27, 2024

The countdown clock has been dwindling down to the single digits in anticipation of your trip to the The Northern Outer Banks and the time is coming to begin packing your bags for your relaxing vacation.

To ensure that you aren’t over or under packing for your trip, we have some suggestions to ensure that you have what you need and that you are prepared.

The weather on the The Northern Outer Banks is seasonal and reviewing the upcoming forecast as a guide is a great way to ensure that you have the layers and items you may need for the season you are visiting in.

Before You Go

Amenities

Many rental homes often come with various items, including sheets, bath towels, beach towels, beach chairs and a full kitchen. To make sure you know what items are provided, it is important to confirm with the rental company prior to your departure. Occasionally, rental homes also offer items like bicycles, boogie boards, paddle boards, kayaks, highchairs and more. If your rental may not have the items you are looking for, you can also check to see if one of the rental companies can provide what you are looking for.

      -Packing Your Bags

Whether you are someone who packs light or packs some extra items for those “just in case” possibilities, we would like to suggest an essential packing list for your time in Corolla:

      • T-shirts
      • Shorts/Pants
      • 2 bathing suits
      • Flip flops
      • Sweater or sweatshirt (If cooler weather, we suggest bringing a few extra or a jacket)
      • Pajamas
      • Underwear
      • Pants
      • Outfit(s) for dinner
      • Toiletries
      • Medications
      • Sunscreen
      • Any comfort items (pillow, sound machine, etc…)
      • Electronics, charging cords, etc…
      • Hairdryer and hair items
      • Aloe vera
      • Sneakers and socks (or your favorite pair of comfortable shoes)

**if you are bringing your pet to a pet friendly rental, don’t forget food, dishes, leashes and waste bags!

Upon Arrival to the Beach

    -Stock the Essentials
Picking up some of the necessities once you roll onto the beach, such as perishables, snacks and beverages are oftentimes the first place many visitors stop prior to checking into their rental. Even if your plan is to sample some of the local fare at the restaurants throughout your visit, ensuring you have the main staples between meals. A few items you may wish to bring with you or pick up at the grocery store:

      • Paper towels
      • Trash bags
      • Paper products
      • Hand soap
      • Dish soap
      • Snacks
      • Essential groceries

Please remember that each rental is different and some stays will provide more than you need. Be sure to verify what is provided before visiting the store.

     -Making a Plan

Every itinerary is different for each visitor. Corolla is a sanctuary and a relaxing place for many where the only plan is having no plans and allowing the day to take them where it may. For others, it is also a place of adventure, enjoying delicious cuisine, and checking out some of the local sites. Whatever your desire is for your visit, you can plan ahead or on the go with the Corolla app for your next adventure or meal. Maybe you are staying Sound front and are looking forward to a kayak excursion? Some rentals provide amenities such as stand-up paddle boards, kayaks, boogie boards, beach chairs and more. If your rental doesn’t offer these items, there are rental companies who will rent these items to you for the week, or several businesses who offer these services as well.

    -Beach Bag Essentials

Packing your beach bag for a day (or 6 at the beach) is half the fun of going to the beach! Whether you enjoy soaking up the sun, getting some quality reading time in, taking walks in the fresh air along the shore or playing beach games, you want to make sure your bag has what you need to make your day enjoyable. Here are a few items to consider adding to your beach bag:

      • Beach towels
      • Sunscreen
      • Book(s)
      • Beach games
      • Hat
      • Refillable bottle of water (or two!)
      • Snacks

     -Leave your Worries at Home

If you find yourself crossing the bridge and remembering that important thing that you left on the kitchen counter, have no fear. There are many shops and stores where you can pick up that emergency phone charging cord, face wash or beach cover up when you arrive.

We hope that this helps to make it even easier to pack and prepare for your visit to the beautiful beaches in the The Northern Outer Banks.
