Capturing the memories, the laughs and moments with your friends and loved ones on the Outer Banks are often at the top of the list for many visitors. Whether its hiring a photographer to set a photo session and choose locations or setting a timer on your iPhone to get a shot of your whole crew, we can provide some suggestions so you can capture the memories for a lifetime.
Currituck is home to many talented photographers, many of whom specialize in family photos to cherish for a lifetime. Local photographers have intimate knowledge of great photo locations throughout the beach and mainland and can provide suggestions based on your location and what theme or ambiance you are looking for. Additionally, whether you have plans for some photos of just a handful of people or 25, many of the local photographers have experience shooting both small and large groups.
If you aren’t looking for professional shots and may just be looking for nice photos for your social channels, we also have a few suggestions for locations for some beautiful photos.
Whalehead
The grounds at Whalehead provide so many opportunities for beautiful backdrops for your photos. From the picturesque Whalehead mansion to the beautiful grounds, canal, bridge and the reeds along the Currituck Sound, you have many beautiful spots in one location to capture the moment. Plan for golden hour, which is usually an hour or so before sunset for some great lighting and sunset shots along the Sound.
The Beach
Sea oats, warm sand, rolling waves and the occasional caw from seagulls serve as some of the most iconic parts of being on the The Northern Outer Banks. A group shot in front of the picturesque dunes adds to the fun of your memorable trip to the beach.
Currituck Lighthouse
When you think about the Outer Banks, several landmarks may come to mind, including the beautiful brick lighthouse in Corolla. The grounds boast beautiful flowers planted throughout and several opportunities to capture the lighthouse and the keepers quarters to remember your first (or tenth) climb up the lighthouse.
Under the Live Oaks
When you take a walk around Corolla, you will see so many native live oak trees all over the beach. These twisty, winding and mighty trees provide shade and a great backdrop for your group photos.
Sunrise beach shots
There is nothing like a beach sunrise. All of the colors painting the morning sky with the occasional sights of pelicans, ospreys, sanderlings all looking for their morning breakfast. It’s some of the most peaceful and serene times where you may just find you are the only ones on the beach.
