Time changes once again very soon. In early March we all “spring forward” and move our clocks ahead an hour. The good news, however, is that when you book a stay in Corolla and the Currituck Beaches during your Spring Break, you won’t feel lagged. Time moves much slower here, and as you relax in a cozy vacation home and stroll the pristine sands of our coast you may not notice the change.
Why consider an early vacation here?
You can enjoy more of the beaches.
Spring is an ideal time to visit Corolla. Pleasant weather permits many outdoor activities. It may still be too cold to swim in the ocean, but it’s perfect for relaxing on the beach, biking and hiking our trails, and spending an afternoon in Historic Corolla. You also have more room to move before peak crowds arrive for summer.
You are more likely to see the Wild Mustangs
The Wild Horses of Corolla play here year round, and you can book a guided 4×4 tour to see them in their natural habitat. The chances of seeing the horses increases in the off season due to fewer visitors in the area. The first foals of 2024 are born, too, which means if you come in the spring you may be able to see the herd’s newest additions!
You can enjoy the attractions before the busy summer season.
The Historic Corolla Park and its many museums are already open. This includes the iconic Whalehead, the Outer Banks Center for Wildlife Education, and the Currituck Maritime Museum. The Currituck Maritime Museum allows you to explore our county’s nautical history through interactive exhibits and restorations of historical boats important to Currituck’s fishing and shipping industries. Currituck Beach Lighthouse reopens on March 23 with free climbs from 9AM to 5PM. Adults of all ages are welcome, as are children ages four and up. Younger children may be brought to the top in carriers. Visit the lighthouse’s Facebook page for details on this year’s re-opening event.
You can save a bit of money
Once summer begins, rates will increase on accommodations. If you want time in a luxury vacation home on the beach but are watching your budget, consider coming in the spring. Rates are lower on the beach homes, inns and other lodging options.
