Currituck County has completed work on a Corolla facility that provides easier beach access for handicapped citizens. The public beach access ramp at Corolla Village Rd. now features an improved parking lot with handicap spaces, a paved walkway to the ramp from the public bathhouse, and an ADA-compliant dune walkover directly onto the beach.
The wooden dune walkover is wide enough to accommodate wheelchairs. The ramp takes visitors directly onto the beach without having to navigate the deep sand of the dunes. There is also a short set of steps coming down off the walkover for citizens who do not require using the entire ramp.
This is a welcome addition to the beautiful and pristine beaches of the The Northern Outer Banks. We are proud to see this project come to fruition and allow access to everyone.
